Library Services
Services of MTU Library
Mountain Top University Library exists primarily to support research and teaching across all faculties of the Institution. To this end, the Library acquires, organises, and disseminates print and non-print informational materials that meet the needs of students, faculty, researchers, and other bona fide members of the academic community.
In addition to its well-represented book collection spanning a wide range of disciplines, the Library subscribes to both foreign and local journal titles.
Print holdings can be accessed through the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), alongside a broad range of subscribed online databases. Loan services, inter-library cooperation, and research support tools are also available to assist users in locating the information they need.
Readers' Services
Readers' Services is the image maker of the Library and the first point of contact for every library user. The section attends to students on a day-to-day basis, from registration to the issuance of library cards.
It comprises the Circulation Unit and the Reserved Book Unit, and also oversees the general reading area, the Open Access Collection and the Serials Section. The Readers' Services Librarian, Library Officers and Library Assistants are always on hand to assist users.
- Circulation Unit
- Registers library users and handles the charging and discharging of books and other materials.
- Reserved Book Unit
- Holds high-demand titles, often recommended by lecturers, for in-library use on an hourly basis. Reserved books cannot be borrowed.
- Reading Area & Open Access
- A conducive general reading area with an Open Access Collection that users can browse freely.
- Serials Section
- Holds current and back issues of foreign and local journals, magazines and newspapers, as well as government publications, Inaugural Lecture Series and rare books. Users sign the Serials Register before consulting any serial material.
